Importance of a refrigerator
A fridge, or otherwise called a refrigerator is a cooling kitchen appliance which uses thermal insulation to prevent food items from perishing. Refrigerator appliances keep things from spoiling by keeping them cool and reducing the growth of bacteria.
There are many different kinds of refrigerators that include different types of compartments, sizes, and placement as well.
- Top freezer
These are the most common refrigerators found. The top freezer refrigerator has a freezer on top and the bottom compartments are larger and are used as a fridge. - Bottom freezer
Here, the freezer is at the bottom which makes reaching the refrigeration and storage shelves easier. These are usually less spacious in comparison to top freezer type refrigerators. - French door
These are refrigerators with double doors and compartments and shelves on both sides. They are spacious and also come with ice and water dispensers on their doors. - Side by side
These refrigerators also have two compartments but one side of the refrigerator is used as a fridge and the other as a freezer. - Built-in
These are the most spacious refrigerators with various compartments, shelves, and additional features. They can have French doors or even open up to four doors. They are large refrigerators and have a variety of freezers as well. - Mini/Compact
These are small affordable refrigerators that are suitable for small rooms, apartments or dormitory rooms. These can be used as a secondary refrigerator to store small items such as beverages.
Apart from the above, there is also another type of refrigerators called counter-depth refrigerators. The counter-depth refrigerators do not protrude from the counters and make your kitchen look modern and sleek. Counter-depth refrigerators do the job while also being aesthetically pleasing. A regular depth refrigerator can stick out of walls. This can not only be odd to look at but also can cause inconvenience while moving around the kitchen space.
There are regular, integrated and professional counter-depth refrigerators. Integrated depth fridges seamlessly blend into the kitchen. Regular counter-depth fridges outwardly look like a fridge but do not stand out in the kitchen. Professional counter-depth fridges are bigger and expensive. They are not recommended for domestic use.
Many refrigerator stores such as Walmart, Best Buy, and Brandsmart USA sell counter-depth refrigerators along with the other common refrigerators. Brands like LG and Whirlpool provide good options for counter-depth refrigerators.
