An overview of Fiat-Chrysler’s 2019 Ram 1500 truck
In 2016, Fiat-Chrysler faced falling sales, and it placed third in the automobile industry. It was then that Fiat-Chrysler’s CEO Sergio Marchionne announced that all their manufacturing assets in the continent, except those in Mexico and Canada, would concentrate on manufacturing jeeps and Ram trucks. The company decided to not produce new cars in order to consolidate the jeeps and pickup trucks segment from the Ram division. However, the company had been moving in that direction for long enough to show the results of these endeavors. By the time they announce their quarterly results, their market share in the pickup truck segment had gone up to a healthy 21 percent. The company had a traumatic history during the financial crisis of 2006-2007. However, by September 2014, it was close to becoming the second-ranked company in the truck market. In the last few years, the demand for full-size trucks has been on the rise. Among the top three brands Ford, General Motors, and Fiat-Chrysler, the latter has seen the most growth of about 70% since 2012. This growth saw Fiat-Chrysler rise from 7th to 3rd in sales. The question that arises is what makes the new product from Ram such a great pickup truck that it has beaten all its rivals?
