An Overview of the Cadillac Escalade EXT
Cadillac is a luxury car brand initially named after the French adventurer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe Cadillac, who established the company in the early seventeenth century. When Henry Ford’s firm failed in the early 19th century, Henry Leland rallied the company’s owners to keep going by promising to build them a new luxury car. After getting approval from the company’s stockholders, he combined the newest Ford chassis with a cylinder engine to design the Cadillac.
Brief history of the Cadillac Escalade EXT
General Motors introduced its Cadillac division with a new version of the sports truck named the Cadillac Escalade EXT. This version came onto the market in the early twenty-first century, to be precise. This model consists of a bottom-hinged door through which a pickup bed can be expanded in the cab of the truck. This feature is known as “Convert-a-cab” and was an instant success.
Features of the Cadillac Escalade EXT
The Cadillac Escalade EXT is assembled at one of the prominent plants of General Motors. Escalade is a complete pickup truck with a four-door feature. This model is also seen in various Hollywood movies. It is a five-seat truck with high-intensity discharge headlights made available from the early stages.
Additionally, it has two gasoline engine options. One is the 5.3l LM7 V8, while the other is the 6.0l LQ9 V8. The other versions have a layout consisting of a front engine, rear-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, etc. The total weight of the model is 5,800 lbs. The Cadillac Escalade EXT was manufactured and brought into the market as a direct competitor to the Lincoln Blackwood, which was considered to be an utmost failure by many.
The 2nd Generation Cadillac Escalade EXT
The second generation of Cadillac Escalade is assembled at the Silao plant of General Motors. This version of the Escalade EXT has three gasoline engine options. The first one is 6.2l L92 V8, the second is 6.2l L9H V8, and the third is 6.2l L94 V8. The later version of the Cadillac Escalade EXT has outstanding features like an extendable cargo bed, a lockable tonneau cover of standardized quality, a better and sound electronic stability system, and advanced AWD.
Another version of this vehicle came with similar features without much addition. To be precise, the second generation of the Cadillac Escalade EXT has a layout that consists of the features same as the first generation. The second-generation Escalade EXT weighed 5,840lb.
The journey of the 2nd generation of Cadillac Escalade EXT isn’t as satisfying as the other models of Cadillac EXT. However, this version of the vehicle is not as competent as the other versions.
According to a piece on a well-known car news and shopping website, the Cadillac Escalade EXT ranked tenth among vehicles with the worst sales ratio in a calendar year. Only 1,972 models could be sold in its final year, which was a not-so-satisfying number. This vehicle was made available for the country, Mexico, Canada along with the Middle East except for Israel.
ESCALADE ESV or EXT – Which one to opt for?
If you go by the engine specs, there is hardly much difference. In fact, with 8-cylinder engines, torque and the mechanism of power are quite identical. Concerning the safety standards, both come equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS), front-side airbags (SAB), and side curtain airbags (CBS). However, the ESV can seat up to 8 people, making it a better choice for bunch of people traveling together.
Precisely, both are great options for transportation and are essentially identical. Which choice depends on your preferences and how you want to use the vehicle.
