A Look at the New Maserati Quattroporte
If things like luxury, Italian design, and premium interiors are on your checklist, the new Maserati Quattroporte ticks them all off. For performance, you can choose between a V6 and a V8 engine. The performance and appearance of the car appeals to the buyer. The car’s sporty driving feel is enough to make you overlook the average center console. Available in 3 trims, the starting price of the new Maserati Quattroporte is $98,000.
Engine and performance
With the launch of the new generation of this car, Maserati has decided to ditch the diesel engine option. The new Maserati Quattroporte comes with two engine options – one is the 3.0 liter V6, and another is the 3.8-liter V8 engine. These are petrol engines; the 350 horsepower turbocharged V6 and the 430 horsepower twin-turbo V6 offer similar fuel economy. The combination of a twin-turbo V6 engine and rear-wheel drive will deliver average EPA estimates of 19 mpg. Breaking it down further, the expected EPA values are 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg when driving on highways. Alternatively, all-wheel drive with the V8 engine will give you 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on highways. This brings down the V8 engine’s average EPA score to 18 mpg.
Interior
There is little you will find new with the new Maserati Quattroporte. Like most other things about this recent upgrade, the interior resembles the car’s luxury status. If design and elegance had a destination, this car’s interiors might be it. However, a little disappointing is that Maserati uses some cheap materials in combination with high-quality leather, silk, and plastic. Plus, the design hasn’t received that big an upgrade compared to the predecessors of the current Quattroporte. Of course, you get various customization options to help with things you aren’t particularly fond of.
Connectivity
If you remember the first generation of Maserati Quattroporte, you will also not forget the subpar infotainment center it came with. However, things have improved since the new Maserati Quattroporte comes with an 8.8-inch center console screen. The system can be controlled with touch or via the rotating click wheel available on the console. However, if you find the inbuilt program a little confusing or off-putting, you can connect it with your phone. Maserati offers both Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto connectivity.
Space
There is little customers can find to complain about when it comes to how spacious the new Maserati Quattroporte is. Here you can rest assured that the driver and the passengers are given similar importance, as opposed to some other luxury cars that focus more on either of the two. Its 5.3m long structure provides ample legroom for both front and rear row occupants. Although the second row usually comes with three seats, it can be swapped for a more lavish two-seat row with armrests. This will also introduce occupants to features such as electrically reclining seats. And if that isn’t enough, one such prominent feature is a foldable front passenger seat to let the ones at the back stretch out and relax. However, these features are available to people willing to shell out more than a few dollars.
Cargo and Storage
Very little is out of the ordinary when considering the storage space inside the new Maserati Quattroporte. You can easily spot the usual cup holder, door bins, and a glove box that might have been better if it had been bigger. But, in our opinion, the large cargo space covers it. You can conveniently fit in your weekend away supplies anytime you want. Want to fit in longer luggage and other things you might be hauling? Fold down the rear passenger seats, and you are good to go. Quattroporte’s cargo offers a massive storage space of 18.7 cubic feet. If you compare, the new Maserati Quattroporte sports a larger cargo space than most other cars competing in its segment.
